Sheeran Under Fire for Ethnic Insensitivity
Singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran is once again in the hot seat for what is being labeled as a complete lack of respect for a particular ethnic group. As we reported last week, Sheeran was forced to drop tour partner Macklemore for making what some consider antisemitic statements on stage.
Macklemore once performed on stage wearing a large hooked nose, black wig and beard. The singer claims he didn't know the costume was a caraciture of any particular ethnic group, and only wore the costume so as not to be recognized as he entered the venue four hours before the performance. He claims he simply forgot to remove the costume before going on stage.
Sheeran is now being accused of mocking another ethnic group by performing on stage looking like them. Formal charges against Sheeran have been filed by a Mr. Dorso Baggins of Bag End in The Shire claiming Sheeran repeatedly performs on stage looking uncannily like a hobbit.
Says Baggins,
"Hobbits are sensitive and private creatures. While we enjoy Mr Sheeran's music, we would appreciate if he would stop looking so hobbit-ish".
Sheeran's camp only made matters worse by claiming that hobbits don't really exist, causing massive Hobbiton protest rallies in cities around the world. Police were able to bring the protesters under control by offering them tea, cakes, and pipes with which to blow smoke rings.
As Sheeran's Loop Tour continues, sans Macklemore, Sheeran reportedly still looks like a hobbit.
